Trails & Routes

Enjoy the road less traveled on two wheels

We are absolutely spoilt in Port Elizabeth with the trail options we can choose from.

The Fattracks Mountain Bike Club have done phenomenal work in building & up keeping the trails in the Port Elizabeth region. 3 Rivers Trails also offers some of the best riding in the Eastern Cape, and is a mere 20 minute drive from Port Elizabeth. With Crossways Country Kitchen located at the start / finish of the ride, you just can’t go wrong.

We recommend joining Fattracks Mountain Bike Club. The club caters for all levels of rider and include group out-rides, scheduled group rides, free access to trails and other benefits.

  • The routes in the Baakens Valley are maintained by the Fattracks Mountain Bike Club. There is no fee to ride in the Valley. The trails start and finish from the Parking lot outside Cyclo Pro (Green Fattracks Containers). Trails can be found criss-crossing the valley all the way down to Bridge Street Brewery. The trails are mostly technical single-tracks but there are shorter, flatter routes for novice riders around the containers. We always recommend riding in pairs.

  • This is a perfect place for novice riders or younger riders. The 4km track around the Golf course is mostly non-technical single-track and relatively flat. This is also a great before or after work ride as it is centrally located. A fee is payable, but Fattracks members can ride for free if riding with a current member board.

  • Fattracks Norm Hudlin is one of the very best beginner and family orientated trails on offer. There are many distance options available at Norm Hudlin. The trail is all single track with some fantastic twisty sections through the trees. The trail head offers toilets, showers, coffee shop and shade. A fee is payable, but Fattracks members can ride for free if riding with a current member board. For a longer ride, we recommend riding from home to Norm Hudlin, doing a lap of the trails and then riding home.

  • Baywest Trails is a relatively new trail system. There are many distances to choose from with the longest distance being approx. 18km. The trails are non-technical dual tracks suitable for beginners. A fee is payable, but Fattracks members can ride for free if riding with a current member board.

  • The 3Rivers Trails network include some of the most enjoyable trails in Southern Africa. The trails start and end from Crossways Farm Restaurant, 15min towards Cape Town on the N2. There are trails for Cape Epic level riders through to novices and small children. A fee is payable, but Fattracks members can ride for free if riding with a current member board.
